Is the antenna a simplified capacitor

This study investigated the decoupling mechanism of capacitors in multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) antenna designs based on characteristic mode analysis (CMA). First, a …

Antenna Impedance Matching – Simplified

A value less than 1.5 is desirable. A low flat SWR enables maximum power transfer from the transmission line. SWR can be expressed in terms of the reflection coeficient Γ, which …

Smith Charts

With modern computers, the Smith Chart is no longer used to the simplify the calculation of transmission line equatons; however, their value in visualizing the impedance of an antenna or a transmission line has not decreased. The Smith Chart is shown in Figure 1. A larger version is shown here. Figure 1. The basic Smith Chart.

Capacitors Basics

What are capacitors? In the realm of electrical engineering, a capacitor is a two-terminal electrical device that stores electrical energy by collecting electric charges on two closely spaced surfaces, which are insulated from each other. The area between the conductors can be filled with either a vacuum or an insulating material called a dielectric.

What is the difference between a radio antenna and a capacitor?

The antenna is like one half of a capacitor. Pulsating voltage is applied to the conductive antenna and that makes it loose energy by emitting photons. Similar …

Capacitor Selection and Design for Magloop …

260pF/12kV Variable Butterfly Capacitor for a Loop Antenna kits VA6POP. The second downside to air variable capacitors is the ratio of max to minimum capacitance they can provide is somewhat …

Impedance Matching Basics

Antenna Coupling Capacitor: The antenna coupling capacitor is a critical component in a regenerative receiver without an RF stage, like the Twinplex. In such a receiver, the antenna is an integral …

Resonance and Tuning Methods

mechanical tuning capacitor. The induc- tance value of the coil is not changed in this arrangement. Rather, the capacitor is ad- justed to change the resonant frequency of the coil-capacitor combination. At each setting of the capacitor, we will have resonance (canceled reactance) at a different frequency within the adjustment range of the ...

End Fed Half Wave Antennas: Is a Primary Capacitor Really …

In my research on End Fed Half Wave (EFHW) antennas I found that nearly all have a capacitor in the primary (rig) side of the transformer. I am building an EFHW antenna for my new MTR3b, but do I need to include the capacitor for 20, 30 and 40 meters? Let''s find out!Note: More extensive experiments including operation at HF …

Structure dependence of oscillation characteristics of …

A structure-simplified resonant tunneling diode (RTD) oscillator eliminates metal-insulator-metal capacitors, resulting in a simple and brief fabrication process.

The Smith Chart

For matching the lowband, we can use series capacitors or parallel inductors. Note the location of the 900MHz impedance in Figure 1. A parallel inductor would not move the impedance to intersect the Re [z]=1 or the …

Capacitor or Inductor for antenna tuning? : r/amateurradio

''Automatic'' antenna tuners work, but they have quite a few moving parts in them (electro-mechanical relays), and those are potential failure points. But on a mobile HF station, they can simplify things greatly. As for using a variable capacitor or a variable inductor, most tuners have both, in various configurations.

Antenna -

Antenna -- Feed line Matching Simplified By Donald Sanders W4BWS. This article is aimed at the amateurs just beginning to learn more than the basics of antennas and radio theory. Many amateurs who, having passed the General or Extra license exam, have the desire to learn and understand the how and why of the function of antennas and their ...

Handheld Direction Finding Loop Antenna for RFI Location

If you have an antenna analyzer or VNA, connect it to the antenna output and look at the SWR as you tune the capacitor. You should see a very sharp dip in the SWR at resonance. My antenna had a very good match on 40-15 m with the SWR below 1.3:1. It was higher on 80 m, around 4:1, but this is perfectly acceptable. Using the Antenna

receiver

All this is easily cured adding the few tens pF antenna capacitor. Detuning is now reduced and taken to be rather indipendent from antenna capacitance. Smaller capacitance also rises the antenna …

Homebrew DIY AM ferrite antenna, variable capacitor configuration

This is my first DIY antenna, 120 turns of 28 AWG enameled copper wire, on a 135 x 10mm ferrite bar. The twisted antenna wires get plugged in to external AM antenna jack on stereo. Without the variable capacitor (141.6 pF yellow lead, black lead ground to copper baseboard water pipe, red lead 59.2 pF), I barely get signal.
